“Michelles’ and other teenagers deaths in violent car crashes will not be in vain, and I want people to understand, and teenagers especially, how much a car is a weapon. This is real. It’s not make-believe,” John Arout –Father of Michelle Arout
PETITION TO HELP PREVENT TEEN AUTO DEATHS
We the undersigned concerned parents/voters of the state of new york strongly support changes to the existing teen licensing and driving laws as noted below.
reforms needed in existing new york teen driving laws
-
Increase drivers Education hours of instruction both in class and behind the wheel.
-
Limit the amount of passengers in the car if the driver is 16-17-18, years of age (see national statistics regarding occupancy).
-
Make all passengers in car who violate occupancy rule subject to a ticket themselves, not just hold the driver responsible. Maybe the consequences of their actions would give them second thoughts about getting in a car with over the limit riders.
